Lecture: Maine's Gone Mad: The Rise and Fall of the KKK
Join historian Raney Bench as she discusses the rise and fall of the Ku Klux Klan in Maine during the 1920s. At the height of this short-lived movement, 23% of the population of Maine were members of the Klan. Bench will explore what prompted Klan activity, why Mainers were so susceptible to the Klan's messaging, and what brought about its abrupt end.
The lecture is free and open to the public, no registration required. Donations gratefully accepted on our website.
