Committees

Collections
(Chair- John Demos, jdemosak@gmail.com)

The Collections Committee collects, preserves, and presents items from South Berwick and our local region. The committee accepts donations of objects and archives, works to preserve our collection, and presents our archives and objects through exhibits at the Counting House Museum, South Berwick Town Hall, and South Berwick Public Library. The committee regularly assists guests with research queries, and strives to be known as a top research facility on the Seacoast. The committee collects objects according to the guidelines in the OBHS Collection Policy.

Programs
(Chair- Nicole St. Pierre, making.pies@yahoo.com)

The Programs Committee provides a variety of learning opportunities to children, families, and adults. We incorporate a range of educational options to learn about local history- from school programs to scholarly lectures- and engage a diverse audience. Our programs are always free.

Education
(Chair- Nicole St. Pierre, making.pies@yahoo.com)

The Education Committee creates immersive opportunities that are intended to reach a variety of audiences outside of the museum. The committee plans OBHS’ summer camp, arranges loans of teacher kits, and advises the Hike Through History.

Fundraising
(Chair- Jim Flynn)

The Fundraising Committee presents unique opportunities to celebrate our past through engaging fundraisers that incorporate history and whimsy. Our goals of education, volunteer engagement, creating community and securing memberships guide our fundraising event planning. The committee also plans the annual membership drive and secures business memberships. The committee maintains the museum shop and looks for new items to sell each season.

Finance
(Chair- Jane Orr, 5jaorr0@gmail.com)

The Finance Committee oversees OBHS’ investments and provides advice when gifts are received. The committee advises about smart investment policies, growing our endowment, capital project funding, and grants.
